eMcRey showcase IoT-enabled technologies at Distributech

In January, eMcREY exhibited at Distributech, one of the world’s largest trade shows for the electricity industry.  The impressive event was held in San Antonio, Texas and was attended by more than 12,000 delegates.

For the eMcREY team, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase their IoT-enabled capabilities to this receptive audience, who were keen to understand the latest developments from leading utility industry experts. The company exhibited alongside Hydro Quebec and five other companies as part of a booth organized by Electric Power Industry of Quebec (EPIQ), whose mission was to promote innovative Smart Grid solutions.

The eMcREY attendees were kept busy answering questions from delegates and unveiled a new promotional film explaining how the company’s smart solutions help utilities companies to better manage supply and demand, while incentivizing consumers to reduce energy consumption.  eMcREY enables better connectivity between utilities enterprises and their customers across a range of internet-enabled channels and services.  This generates big data to provide insights into consumer behaviour, enabling streamlining of utility operations and more effective marketing.

Visitors to the booth included Pierre Marcoux, the Quebec Government’s Commercial Attaché in Houston, pictured above with eMcREY’s Marc Lacroix.

eMcREY leading on IoT Task Force

During the last meeting of the IEEC Power System Communication Committee, a new task force was created to work on the Internet of Things (IoT) for the connected home. We are pleased to share the news that this new group will be chaired by Marc Lacroix of eMcREY.

The remit of the task force is to study the different use cases that will take advantage of the IoT in connected homes. It will define telecommunications and cybersecurity requirements, in addition to preparing a set of guidelines to help experts at utility companies implement remote customer management systems.

As technology moves forward, it’s in the best interests of businesses and consumers to agree and implement standards; not only when these are required by legislation, but also when they are driven by industry bodies which represent the interests of all stakeholders.

“We are very happy that Marc is able to take on this leading role,” commented eMcREY CEO, Mona Yahchouchi. “The evolution of IoT has reached a point where dialogue across the industry is crucial to the development of standards that will help increase adoption of IoT technology. Marc’s expertise in the energy sector will allow him to make a great contribution and eMcREY is looking forward to a productive collaboration with our fellow IEEC task force members.”

eMcREY unveils new branding at Seamless Payments Middle East

eMcREY was present this year at Seamless Payments Middle East at the Dubai International Convention Centre, where eMcREY’s new-look exhibition stand was bearing the company’s fresh branding. The key event in the local payments industry calendar attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year and brings together innovators in payments and commerce, along with senior executives from banks, retailers and the government sector. This was the ideal opportunity for eMcREY, along with its major global partners, to showcase its perspective on the future of payments innovation.

“Technology is moving faster than ever before, so there was a real buzz at this year’s show,” said eMcREY CEO, Mona Yahchouchi. “We have exciting things to talk about with our clients and we wanted our new branding to convey a sense of dynamic evolution. We are building on strong relationships with some of the world’s best technology companies and that level of experience and expertise is important. However, as an industry we are also embracing new ways of helping clients respond to rapid market changes. It felt like a good time to update our corporate identity to reflect this evolution and our new website will follow shortly.”

The event coincided with a report by RBR, which forecast continued strong growth in card-based payments in the Middle East and Africa. According to RBR, the number of cards in issue in the region increased by 13% to 611 million in 2015.
